Question Charging Issues

I have a '71 k10 with a V8 350. I am having issues with the charging system. I have replaced the Alternator and Voltage Regulator this past week. This has not made any difference. I have an electrical diagram so I chased the wiring, and everything seems to check out fine. When I put a charging system tester on it, it says that the alternator is not charging. I seem to remember reading something awhile back that said one of the wires on the voltage regulator needs to be bypassed. Anyone have any answers? I am out of ideas.
