Electric tach

Once again, my favorite subject........electrical
My Chevelle has an aftermarket "kneeknocker" tach, something they only did for one year. It worked fine when installed. Now, it's way off. Says idling at 3000+ and it's not. Shifting thru the gears buries the needle. Runs down the road 45 - 55 mph says over 5000 rpm.
The guy who calibrates speedometers and mechanical tachs can't do anything with it. Anyone know if there is anywhere to get it fixed, or should I just replace it? I hate to do that, I'd rather "recylce" or "repair", than "replace". I posted this on the chevelle site earlier this week, but no one has responded yet.

Re: Electric tach

They have a product called a tach adapter that is designed to retard the signal from the dizzy. yours may have popped a diode or something. Summit has them. The new HEI dizzys already have an adapter, I believe they are for the points type while running an electric tach.
Life is a series of choices, where you are tomorrow depends on the choices you make today.
