Question Vin Number ?

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I own a 1947 truck 3100 short bed.
Question: is there a directory according to chassis number of the still existing trucks?
My truck has the Vin Number 354 There are still older existing Trucks?

regards

Re: Vin Number ?

Welcome to the forum. I didn't quite understand what you're after. Is 354 the VIN or part of it? Also, are you asking if there are '47's produced BEFORE the date of yours? Awesome truck, by the way!
Here is a link to OldRide.com regarding VIN codes. file:///C:/Users/Tim/Downloads/1947%20CHEVROLET%203100%20Information%20Specificat ions%20Resources%20Pictures.htm

You may already know this, but here is an explanation of your VIN.

The serial numbers for 1947 through 1955 US made Chevrolet Advance Design trucks are 8 to 12 digits long. They are comprised of two sections. The first section ends with the last alpha character. It is arranged in one of two distinct formats, depending on the year the truck was built. The second section, all numeric, is the plant production number, with the first truck built at a given plant receiving the number 001001.

Re: Vin Number ?

Hello Chicago5, thank you for your answer.

I was able to decode the Vin number.

21 = Plant Janesvill, WI
E = Year 1947
P = Series 3100 1/2 ton
F = Month June
1354 Productin# (first truck built at a given plant receiving the number 001001)
So that's the 354 truck that was produced.

Thanks for the link and your help.

Regards, Gerhard
