1957 235 i-6

Hey all,
The guy I got my '55 from is building a 1957 Chevy truck what I think is at least a 2 ton. It's a flat bed with the big wooden stake racks. Anyway, he put the original 235 in it after a freshen but now he said he is going to scrap that engine for a 283 he has, so he asked me If I wanted the 235. Well that is a no-brainer when I know vintage iron is going to the evil scrappers, but I ended up being able to help him with the swap too. The 235 side-mount bell housing will not bolt up to the 283 and I have a side mount bell housing from a 250 I-6 that also fits the V-8s so I will give him that.

Here is some pics. All the pics are of the 235 except the last one which is the 250 with the bell housing he needs.

Re: 1957 235 i-6

Thanks guys! I did toss around putting it in the '55 but since it is already set up for the 230-250-292 type engine I'm not going to go thru that kind of work at this time. If it was a GMC 270 or 302, I might would consider it. For now keeping it from scrap is all I am after.
He would scrap it, seen him do similar things before.

Later---DAC
