69 1ton dually4x4

I've had it for about 25years .
I'm a welder and fabricator . The truck started out 1ton straight 6 2wd , a duct work cleaning truck with a big fan on the back .
I've made a 1ton dually 4wd with 4/10 gears and 350 4brl . I'm presently putting the front clip back on . The interior is done but for a radio.
Pretty soon I have to get a steering box . I'm also hoping someone knows about a good OD for it .
I've had it all these years and now it seems pretty popular

Re: 69 1ton dually4x4

As far as overdrive, My 71 C30 started life as a 402/4 speed truck. I switched it over to a 700R4 a long time ago. I had my local transmission builder rebuild it so I could tow with it, and it does.
My next change will be to a 3:54 Dana rear to replace 4:10 rear end in it now. I also have a 454 that will eventually make it's way in, too.

The 700R4 is whats in my truck as well as a hole lot of others are probably using this also.
A 700R4 is just a 3 spd with a extra gear for Over Drive now 4 gears forward or 4 spd overdrive. They were made from 1982- 1992 but was Changed to a 4L60 in 1990-1992 but for all its worth it still is a 700R4 trans.
The early ones 82-86 I think they had some problems and were eventually fixed to a more reliable units. After the 1992 4L60's they became electrically controlled hence the name 4L60E. The 4L60E's have to have a Computer to Control them and if you don't mind a Computer telling your stuff what to do that one might be good for you, I'll stick with the No Computer ones for my self (700R4). That's it in a nut shell but Others might or will chime in with additional info.

700R4 is an automatic. They were also made for 4x4 trucks.
