Bgbytoy

Every Summer for a couple of years I have posted BGBYTOY's progress.

This year "Will" be the year it hits the streets again. He's been down since 2002. BGBYTOY was a pre-runner in the utmost sence before I bought my F-350 Ford. After that we started to lower and do some major changing of the 70.

So far this year we have just kinda tinkered with it The one piece windows are almost done.(actually both are in but we're still wiring the new wires and I received the new switches I ordered from the Hoffman group), Some of you may know the Hoffman Group as Auto-loc.

I have been doing a few "Honey do's" that I got lazy on and hope to have them finished up tomorrow or the next day. (the immediate ones anyway!) I and Cody are putting new flooring in the entry way and the communal bathroom. The entry way is completed and the bathroom is about 50% done. We just need to do some cutting and installing the panels.

Cody and I do most of the house upgrade work ourselves along with working on all the cars, trucks, quads, boats, etc.

So I will add to this thread as we make progress on the 70.

Re: Bgbytoy

Well since they have taken out all industrial arts classes out of high schools (metal shop, wood shop, in some places auto shop) these are the experiences that will serve Cody well in life. I know it did for me. Two weeks ago I spent my vacation cutting a hole in my kitchen and putting a door into the garage, as well as building a pantry. I cannot imagine how much a contractor would have charged me.

Spring updates

There really isn't a big bunch to post right now but we'll keep y"all advised from this thread.

We sandblasted the inner fenders last week and installed them, As I said in an earlier post, We left the ignition on and destroyed a coil so we need to replace that.
I'm waiting for the new alarm then that will go in. It's a steller, It has dual arming, the ability to work my door solinoids, power windows, and passenger door. It also has dual adjustable setting with a warning. glass breakage, Interior light management and on and on. Also the ability to add other area coverage with optional items. We need to install the billet switches for the doors and windows. I installed the ones for the air compressors last week also.

Re: Spring updates

You can buy a complete distributor with a 65000 V coil on Ebay, I bought one, so far so good, in fact it's like a brand new truck, my old one I am surprised it even ran.

Re: Spring updates

Spent a couple of hours today installing my new switches, They are too deep,(long) to mount them in the door where I wanted them so I settled for the dash in the place where the factory A/C outlets usually are. It's free and clear behind there.

I still have two switches that should have been here last week.

I'm getting other things caught up around the house so hopefully I and Cody can get going on the truck again.

Cody has taken on a job at the local diner, Typical kid stuff, Bussing, washing dishes, Etc. So some of his time is tyed up now. He'll be turning 16 in November so he's checking cars and trucks out..

Re: Spring updates

Here's a couple of pics of the new switches.

The bottom one is for you guys that are scared if wiring,,LOL

It won't stay the way it is with wires all over under the dash, They will be in a loom tied together.

I need two more on the drivers side just need to lay them out in my head of where will look best.

Good character building! We need more kids with morals and character.

Are those the contacts for windows and such? those are nice.

Yes Jay, The ones on my side are for door unlock driver and passenger, WIndow up and down for both windows. The ones on cody's side are both door openers, and his window up and down.

I'll get into the real wiring of them this weekend. I love wiring but it is just so tedious.....

My other two switches and alarm didn't show up this week!!

Re: Spring updates

Well, As I posted, not only has my coil went bad but so did the pertonix ignitor electronic module. (goes in the distributor in place of points) so now I have to order that also.

I have really enjoyed the last few years putting this truck together with Cody, But I also will be really glad when it's on the road again, and of course ecstatic when it's done.

And guys, whatever you do Don't get too many hobbies going at once.

That's my problem, Through the years I have picked up a few different hobbies when burnt out on one or the other. When I retire I should be too busy to get bored.......
