Cool Seat Question

I know I am a long way from installing the seat, but I think I need to be thinking about it.

My fine had a bench seat in it but it is not the factory seat. The slides had been welding to the underside of the seat.

So I was wondering if any one could steer me i n the direction of a replacement seat. Not sure if I want to go with standard bench, a newer 60/40, or buckets. Most likely either a 60/40 or 40/20/40.

Anyone been down this road, with advice?

Thanks BMNNTX

Re: Seat Question

I just know, from my experience, a bench from '73 on is too wide. You can make adjustments to the mounts, but the seat itself is too wide. I finally had mine re-padded and upholstered for under $200. I don't know much about buckets. Later.

Re: Seat Question

The seat in my truck is from a mid-80's truck. Nothing lined up for mounting, a friend of mine made me a set of brackets to mount the seat from C channel. Bottom holes to the floor, top holes for the seat.

Re: Seat Question

Hmmmm. See, that's why I should just get my info. at one place, HERE. I had a chance to get a nice seat out of an '80 Chevy, and the guy convinced me it wouldn't fit in my '72. I did some measuring just to reassure myself and it seemed like he was right. Sorry BMNNTX, you better not take my word as gospel. Later.

Re: Seat Question

My seat has been in my truck for 10 years, probably. It fits fine. It's just the mounting that I told you about that was a little problem.

Re: Seat Question

The seat in mine, came with the truck, but I believe it's out of a 83 or 84. It fits good, a little higher then stock, but a good ride height. It's a 60/40 and has spacers under the middle brackets. A friend of mine got one out a 07, or 08 truck. It's a tight fit, but it works. Sets you low in the cab. He needs to move the gas tank so he can flip the center council up, lol.

Re: Seat Question

Sorry to hi-jack your thread dude, but this is become humorous for me. I remember searching on line as well as looking at seats for sale nearby. I really wanted one or two of them, but hearing they wouldn't fit nixed that plan. I found this forum right before I had my '72 bench seat redone. I love the seat, but I would have bought one of those other ones if I had known all this. That's why this is my one stop source for info. Later.
