3/4 Coil Drop Question

Newbie here, My name is Marvin aka mjgord51. I have a 68 C10 LWB/Fleet SBC/700R4 and I am going to lower it by Coils only. I will first install the coils to see how much Shock Travel is needed and go from there. **I have heard and read a little about Trans/Driveshaft/Pinion Angles coming into play and I am wondering how much of a problem it will end up with something needed more to be right for the Trucks drive ability. All things going to be done to the Truck will only be for Normal usage Not for any Performance Driving or heavy hauling. Thanks in advance for any help or "link" directions.

Re: 3/4 Coil Drop Question

Dropping it 2 or so inches shouldn't be a problem. Try to keep your trans and rear parallel to each other. You probably have a 3 piece driveline. Your axle will twist a bit under acceleration but with modest performance options this shouldn't be a problem. If for some reason you drop it WAY low and the angle of your driveshaft is VERY extreme there might be a need to install a CV joint to the drive shaft. I had a CJ5 with a 4" lift with a 2 foot drive shaft. The angle was extreme and I needed one. Don't worry about it. You'll be just fine

Re: 3/4 Coil Drop Question

my C30 is lowered a little. In the front, just cut a coil. Mine is a leaf spring truck. Had a spring shop rework the leaf springs, removed one, to drop it some. I like the way the tires seem to fit the wheel well better now. I did this about 20 years ago, and haen't had any problems with the drop yet.
