Replacing floor pan in 72 PU cab

Does anyone have any pointers on replacing the entire floor pan in a 72 PU cab? It also needs inner and outer rockers.

Re: Replacing floor pan in 72 PU cab

Hello Art and Welcome to the board. I have found these old trucks are spot welded from panel to panel to the cab and it's floor.

Before you start removing the spot welds you MUST to weld braces from side to side front to side to support your cab to from one side to the other. You will need to do quite a few of these You do not want your Floorboard or Cab to move even the slightest amount of alignment.

Look around the inside edge of the floorboard and you will see the spot welds I mean. There's a special drill that's made for drilling them out It will drill a small hole just enough to get rid of the spot weld, The other connecting panel will have a pretty good size hole. It makes removing and welding panel to panel together again.

Check out youtube for some how to's so you can see and get a better understanding of what I just typed.
We really like pictures and videos of your project.. ;)

Be sure and get it level and square before you brace it up, Construction saying, "Plumb Square and Level"
