I am wondering what this wire is for on my blinker on my 1965 Chevrolet C10.

That is indeed just a ground wire Woog.

My grandfather had a '72 C20. I added ground wires, circa early 1980's, just like that from the battery ground to the head light and tail light housings. he was having all sort of wierd things happen... like he would turn on the turn signal and all the lights would start blinking. The dedicated ground fixed the issues.

Relying on the chassis sheet metal as a ground is a crap shoot on a new truck... let alone on an old rusty one.

Ground wires needed for Chevy trucks

Yes add grounds even.

*Engine to frame at least 2 and these are the braided H.D. type.
*Body to frame at least 5 these are the braided H.D. type
Core support to frame rail = 1
Cab body rear to frame rail rear = 1
Cab body front to frame rail = 1
Truck bed to frame rail rear = 2
7 all Total
This overcomes all of the rubber mounts and should one break later down the road.

IMO they did not have enough to begin with and if your changing from points to HEI it is a must have.
