In the process of rebuilding the front end on my '65 C-10 and am looking for help on front springs.

The old springs were worn out and had the "booster" blocks installed (probably to prevent sagging) but the truck still sat a bit high.

I am afraid that is I replace with new stock spring it will be even higher when I actually want it a bit lower.

Anybody know of any deals on 2" front springs out there?

I saw those but 4" is way more than I would ever lower mine and still hope to run my tires.

I used CPP springs on the rear of my '65. I found out the hard way that vendors like LMC buy the springs from CPP and mark them up.

Here's a link, their front springs are $95 bucks a pair. http://www.classicperform.com/6092chevtrk.htm#27

Turns out, after more investigation that its cheaper to buy them from CPP through Ebay and they have tilt columns on sale too. Might actually kill two birds with one swipe of the credit card!
30" or 32" column? And any issues with mounting the universal column in our trucks? I already have the painless wiring harness installed. This would be a swap out to go with my power steering retrofit.

I pulled the trigger on both.

Go to pershes site, it might give you some ideas...

I seem to remember that most of the guys get an intermediate shaft from the `67 to 72`s with the rag joint, but I don`t remember why....

Being that I am changing over to power steering and the new column has a 1" DD output I am guessing I will end up with all new steering shaft anyways.

Just remembered that I forgot to order the mounting brackets for the box.

The Column was only $190 shipped in chrome so it was hard to pass up.

Now if I could just find a place that stocks not only the lower control arm u-bolts but also the radiator retaining cups (that the cushions ride in, mounted to crossmember).

LMC & Brothers both have the cups but not the bolts, Classic has the bolts but not the cups.... frustrating!!!!

Too late now... got it all coming. Bolts from CPP on Ebay and cups coming from Classic Parts.

Time to order a new radiator.... I hope I have time to assemble the engine soon, LOL!

I got the CPP 2" lowered springs from a board member here and I like ride and the handling from them. I did install a nice set of Bilstein shocks which helps soften the roughness of lowered springs.

Got the springs today and the lower control arm u-bolts....

Of course the u-bolts don't fit correctly. I figured that I might have to drill the cross member to accommodate 1/2" bolts vs. the originals but these things aren't even spaced correctly to fit in the holes without making them oblong.

Anybody have a source for the correct u-bolts (7/16" diameter) ?

Comparing the factory (possibly original) front coils to the new CPP 2" drop coils I think this is going to work out perfect!

The chrome CPP tilt column @ $200 is very nice as well!

Any pics of your truck showing ride height? Also what size tire are you running?

Yeah, I checked them but I am having difficulty believing that I am the only person to every replace these things and wanting a direct replacement.

Oh well, turns out a local place makes them so I will have them in time to assemble the front end this weekend hopefully.
